Become a Secret Santa

Every child deserves a Christmas morning. Through Veganized Living’s Secret Santa program, you can sponsor a child from one of our program families in Atlanta or Jacksonville and make their Christmas happen, or give to the Secret Santa pot and we will do the shopping. Either way, your kindness lands directly with a local family.

How Secret Santa Began

Last year, one of our participants, Jazz, opened up to her case manager in tears. She could not give her two children Thanksgiving or Christmas. We delivered everything her family needed for a Thanksgiving meal that week, and then, without telling her, our community quietly gathered Christmas gifts for her children too.

After Thanksgiving, Jazz sent us this message:

“Thank you for seeing me, hearing me, showing compassion & helping my babies have a holiday to remember.”

“If you ever wonder whether what you do makes a difference, PLEASE KNOW IT DOES!!”

Jazz is the reason Secret Santa exists. This year we are doing it again, and we are looking for sponsors.

Path 1: Sponsor a Child

You do the shopping, we do the matching.

1. Sign up by Friday, December 4 using the form below, and tell us how many children you would like to sponsor.
2. By Monday, December 7, we will match you with a child and send you their Christmas list, created by the parent and child together.
3. Shop the list, spending at least $100 per child. Please bring the gifts unwrapped, in a bag labeled with the child’s name (we will tell you exactly what to write). Unwrapped gifts let parents wrap their children’s presents themselves.
4. Drop off on Friday, December 18 during your chosen time slot: 9:00 to 11:00 AM, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, or 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. We will share the exact drop-off location when you are matched.

Who Gets Sponsored

The children sponsored through Secret Santa are the children of Veganized Living program families, invited through their case managers. If your family needs food support, please visit our Apply page.

Questions

When do I get my child’s Christmas list? By Monday, December 7, by email.

Do I have to buy everything on the list? No, and please do not stretch yourself trying to. Your commitment is to spend at least $100 per child on gifts from their list, and that truly covers it. If one item on the list costs $100 and you buy that one, you are done. Every item on the list was picked by the child with their parent, so whatever you choose will be the right gift.

Why do gifts need to be unwrapped? So parents can wrap their children’s gifts themselves. Wrapping gifts is part of Christmas, and we don’t want to take that away from families. It also lets us check the gifts against the child’s list before they go to the family.

What if I sign up and something comes up? Tell us as early as you can. The Secret Santa pot exists so our team or another sponsor can cover your child.

Is my gift tax-deductible? Veganized Living is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization, and donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
